At the Kochi University Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, we contribute to improving the health of the community in all areas of anesthesiology, including cardiac, thoracic, obstetrics, neurological, pain, and intensive care. A number of graduates and research students have progressed to undertake research degrees. Research areas Our department conducts a broad range of epidemiological, clinical and basic science research. Experts from multiple disciplines study specific pathology and disorders in order to improve human health and well-being. The specific research areas are as follows: 1) postoperative cognitive dysfunction, 2) neuropathic pain 3) respiration and circulation dynamics, 4) perioperative nutrition, and 5) perioperative outcomes.
