This research analyzes changes in the structure of R&D human resources in the manufacturing industry and factors that cause people to leave the industry. In addition, the correlation between R&D human resources input to the manufacturing industry and the value of manufactured goods shipments was analyzed.　As a result of these analyses, it was determined that the structure of R&D human resources in Japan has undergone structural changes. and these have played important role in the development of the Japanese manufacturing industry.
